Item Description: This paper (IF: 3.25) followed a collaboration between Swansea University and Fiberweb, the world’s largest producer of tree shelters. It establishes the potential benefits of tree shelter use (which amount to a CO2 saving of about 40 million tonnes annually) and sets out a framework for how the benefits can be quantified in specific situations. From reprint requests, it has already generated significant interest amongst users of tree shelters and policy formulators within DEFRA. The lead author is now an invited member of the International Technical Advisory Panel for Fiberweb (contact: Bhukan.parbhoo@fiberweb.co.uk).
