| Abstract: |
This chapter explores the use of surveys and experimental studies in environmental and sustainability education by reviewing examples published in international peer-reviewed papers. The approaches will be critically analysed, with a view to providing advice on the development of scales used in surveys and the development and deployment and running of a successful experimental study. The studies have been selected to provide examples from the Global North and South, a range of participant ages and a range of participant numbers, giving a broad overview of research in these areas. The chapter first addresses surveys and scales as these are frequently incorporated into experimental studies. It then considers examples of experiments such as randomised controlled trials (RCTs), including their purpose, demographic considerations and key findings. |
