Abstract: This chapter discusses how geographers have become interested in the theoretical and empirical possibilities of the performance. It provides an overview of how geographers have approached performance, particularly as part of a creative ‘turn’. We identify geopolitics and identity as key areas of research enquiry where bodily practices both reinforce and re-create geographical phenomena. The chapter builds on discussions of more-than-representational theory in the ‘Foundations’ section and showcases the performing arts as central concerns in cultural geography.
