Item Description: The paper is published in IJNME, the premier journal in the field of computational mechanics and engineering computation. The paper proposes a novel strategy for developing accurate low-order membrane elements, to be used in structural analysis. The new technique is compatible with existing simulation framework and improves the accuracy of analysis by 2-3 orders, enabling large-scale practical structures to be simulated efficiently on desktop computers. This research work is jointly conducted with Prof S. Cen et al. at the School of Aerospace, Tsinghua University (the premier university in China).
