Item Description: |
This work extends Submission No1 to solve transient thermal conduction in a large scale particle assembly. Both Submissions lead to a collaborative research project with the Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology, Tsinghua University, China, and the methodologies developed have been successfully applied to simulate thermal transfer in the new generation High Temperature Pebble Bed reactor, and thus have provided valued information to the design and future safe operation of the world’s first commercial nuclear reactor of such a type. This is part of an ongoing major Chinese national science and technology project to develop new (3rd/4th) generation nuclear reactors in China |
