Impact Factor: 4.2. This research programme “Effective Structural Unit Size in Polycrystals: Formation, Quantification and Micromechanical Behaviour” was funded by EPSRC, Timet (Paul.Garratt@Timet.com) and Rolls-Royce. The academic collaborators included: Swansea, Birmingham, Imperial College London, Manchester and Oxford universities. This work contributed greatly in understating macrozone creation in order to avoid its formation. This aspect was of the great important in Ti industries as there is a safely concerns in the aircraft component where Ti alloys are used. This work presentation awarded the best speaker prize at Titanium Research Conference/UK, July 2008. State-of-the-art techniques including neutron diffraction facilities in ISIS/Oxford/UK were employed to measure texture during phase transformation. |
