Item Description: This paper resulted from an EPSRC funded 3 year-research grant aiming at developing methodologies to predict gravel beach behaviour. The work presented in this paper compares and contrasts sand and gravel beach behaviour across a range of time scales important for coastal managers and planners. Also, it fulfils the need for insights needed for developing models for predicting gravel beach behaviour. This work led to a new collaboration between University of Sydney (Prof. Andrew Short) and IHE-UNESCO University (Assc. Prof. Roshanka Ranasinghe), The Netherlands.
