Abstract: The influence of a glucose containing drink on the behavior of children in school was examined in a double-blind placebo controlled cross-over trial. A child maybe particularly susceptible to the provision of blood glucose, as in childhood the brain uses relatively more glucose than when adult. After drinking a glucose containing drink, children aged 9-11 years were found to have better memories and spent more time on task when working in class, although the ability to sustain attention was not influenced.
