Abstract: This is the introduction to a special issue, based on papers presented at the 2024 TASM Conference. The special issue offers an in-depth, multifaceted engagement with aspects of the online far-right, examining varied manifestations and the platforms, affordances and narratives that sustain them. It also looks outward to comparative, cross-platform and cross-temporal perspectives, situating far-right online activity within a broader extremist ecosystem and interrogating how regulation, moderation and public participation intersect with these dynamics.
