<p class="results">It is not surprising that Mary finds the prospect of appearing in court daunting. The process is very formal and steeped in tradition. The language, rules and etiquette are unfamiliar. However, courts and tribunals are a key part of the legal system. In child protection proceedings the court ensures fairness and is required to consider the child’s welfare as paramount (Children Act 1989, s1). With knowledge of what to expect and some simple planning Mary will be able to make a valuable contribution to this process to the benefit of the court.</p> |
