Item Description: The paper is a first investigation towards creating a link of 3D computational modelling with simple 0D clinically used models. The ideology behind the paper led to an EPSRC grant on the analysis of stenosed aortic valves (EP/H017348/1) and a NISCHR grant on the analysis of multiple valve lesions (HS/10/13). The paper led to an invitation to speak at a workshop on heart valve design at the Mathematical Sciences Institute in Ohio, US. It also led to an invitation from Mariano Vazquez for 1 week research visit at the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre.
