Abstract: Recently telephone/contact-first methods are being introduced for patients who have less-acute needs for access to emergency care. This article describes a multidisciplinary approach to modelling potential risks and opportunities when moving towards teletriage and telemedicine. The approach informed the development of CAV24/7, a telephone/contact-first system in Cardiff, and assessment of the potential for similar services in Newport and surrounding areas.
