Item Description: The project involved a collaboration between Swansea and workers at Imperial College London, Physics department using AFM and polarised Raman spectroscopy, and was led by Dr A. M. Higgins. Molecular orientation is an important determinant of properties such as charge transfer and charge mobility within organic electronic devices. The work explored a novel self-assembly technique for achieving molecular alignment within conjugated polymer nanowires and quantified the degree of molecular alignment that could be achieved as a function of the nanowire width.
