Abstract: |
Mobility is important for older people's health and wellbeing. Yet, older people's transport needs are not well represented in policy terms. This paper explores different ways older people's mobility needs could be met through planning and policy including an increase in the involement of older people in planning and policy and using lifestage approach to planning. Overall better cross sectoral work is needed in transport planning, along with changes the vision of planners. To conclude, it is importantto be wary of introducing planning and policy that simply fosters growth in hypermobility. In a world of balancing health and environmental sustainability, policy, and planning need to be more social in nature, more nuanced and hence involve end users more. |
