Item Description: |
Current Impact Factor = 2.02. Five Year Impact Factor = 1.8. This paper is concerned with a subject of considerable practical importance as it considers the extent of confidence that can be placed on predictions of the service life of components made from a material commonly use in power generation. It shows that ignoring the hierarchical nature of existing creep data bases result in a substantial underestimate of such confidence limits. The paper also develops a suitable methodology to overcome this problem and derives safe life predictions - with levels of confidence- for 1Cr steel at typical operating conditions. |
