Item Description: |
This paper, published in European Polymer Journal (IF 2.14) provides a significant extension to a widely-used theory of sorption into polymers. The work extends the theory to include specific molecular interactions and it gives predictions that are reasonably accurate with all parameters derived from first principles. The underpinning understanding has helped lead to significant industrially-funded work on water-ingress into polymer composites (with Airbus, Rolls Royce and GKN). |
