Item Description: This paper is the first to establish a rheometrical basis for studying the evolution of stem cell-guided microstructural change in collagen substrates. It has led to an international collaboration between Swansea and the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, who are using this technique in fundamental and clinical research. It also forms the basis of an EPSRC-funded project 'Probing the mechanical control of stem cell fate through the development of novel, non-invasive imaging technologies’ (EP/H045848/1, 2010-2013) which was ranked second in priority funding order under EPSRC's Novel Technologies for Stem Cell Science Awards.
