Item Description: This paper reports a haemorheological technique underpinning two EPSRC Grand Challenge Awards (total £1.8M) which were ranked First in EPSRC’s funding priority order. The impact of this technique, which involves a World-first in applying rheometry in NHS trials, is based on work which led to an international IChemE Industry Award for Innovation and Excellence 2008 and an RAEng Enterprise Fellowship 2012. The new FTMS technique reported in this work forms the basis of a £1.5M award in 2011 from NISCHR to establish an NHS based biomedical Research Unit to exploit FTMS testing in clinical settings.
