Item Description: |
(IF 3.73) Building on a long standing relationship with Corus/Tata Steel company this industrial collaborative work extended our previous first order model (doi:10.1016/j.corsci.2005.08.015, which was probably the first ever model of cut edge corrosion, (c.f. doi:10.1016/j.electacta.2008.02.066) to incorporate both a cathodic reaction and multiple species transport. The work involves microscale electrochemical modelling able to resolve the effects of metallurgical microstructure on corrosion performance of widely used construction materials. Excellent quantitative agreement between modelling predictions and experimental measurements was demonstrated. This publication led to an invitation to present at the 3rd International Conference on Electrochemical Process Simulation, 2009 in Bologna, Italy. |
