This research aims to examine the factors influencing e-Inclusion in the UK within a digital-by-default policy for government services. This study is pursued through combining the Decomposed Theory of Planned Behaviour (DTPB) with Use and Gratification Theory (U&amp;G) and conducting a self-administered survey targeting 510 Internet users to study the level of citizens engagement with e-government services in the UK. By incorporating gratification, trust, risk and external factors (i.e. self-efficacy, accessibility, availability, affordability) within DTPB, the proposed model of e-Inclusion used in the paper demonstrates a considerable explanatory and predictive power and offers a frame of reference to study the acceptance and usage of e-government within a national context where nearly all government transactions are digital-by-default. The findings revealed six dimensions as key inhibitors for e-Inclusion, namely: demographic, economic, social, cultural, political, and infrastructural.
<type>Journal Article</type><journal>Information Systems Frontiers</journal><volume>21</volume><journalNumber>3</journalNumber><paginationStart>635</paginationStart><paginationEnd>659</paginationEnd><publisher>Springer Science and Business Media LLC</publisher><placeOfPublication/><isbnPrint/><isbnElectronic/><issnPrint>1387-3326</issnPrint><issnElectronic>1572-9419</issnElectronic><keywords>E-inclusion; E-government; Digital-by-default; Government services; UK</keywords><publishedDay>15</publishedDay><publishedMonth>6</publishedMonth><publishedYear>2019</publishedYear><publishedDate>2019-06-15</publishedDate><doi>10.1007/s10796-019-09914-0</doi><url/><notes/><college>COLLEGE NANME</college><department>Business</department><CollegeCode>COLLEGE CODE</CollegeCode><DepartmentCode>BBU</DepartmentCode><institution>Swansea University</institution><apcterm/><funders/><projectreference/><lastEdited>2022-10-26T12:11:35.3747794</lastEdited><Created>2019-05-19T19:01:02.4860954</Created><path><level id="1">Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences</level><level id="2">School of Management - Business Management</level></path><authors><author><firstname>Ahlam</firstname><surname>Al-Muwil</surname><order>1</order></author><author><firstname>Vishanth</firstname><surname>Weerakkody</surname><order>2</order></author><author><firstname>Ramzi</firstname><surname>El-haddadeh</surname><order>3</order></author><author><firstname>Yogesh</firstname><surname>Dwivedi</surname><orcid>0000-0002-5547-9990</orcid><order>4</order></author></authors><documents><document><filename>0050439-19052019190414.pdf</filename><originalFilename>Al-Muwil2019_Article_BalancingDigital-By-DefaultWit.pdf</originalFilename><uploaded>2019-05-19T19:04:14.1200000</uploaded><type>Output</type><contentLength>1115159</contentLength><contentType>application/pdf</contentType><version>Version of Record</version><cronfaStatus>true</cronfaStatus><documentNotes>Released under the terms of a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC-BY).</documentNotes><copyrightCorrect>true</copyrightCorrect><language>eng</language><licence>http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/</licence></document></documents><OutputDurs/></rfc1807>
