Abstract: In recent years, with the impact of climate change and human activities, the spatial and temporal distribution of water resources change significantly. Data storage, computing and analysis of water resources data have become increasingly difficult. The traditional data storage and management technology are very difficult to handle current water resources data. In this case, the big data technology is used to tackle this challenging water resources management issue in the social and economic development. This paper, for the first time, addresses three key issues of designing and implementing distributed water resources big data management system. The performance and advantages of water resources big data system are evident in terms of data access, computing and analysis speed.
