The CPEL framework is directly commissioned by the professional regulator Social Care Wales (SCW, formerly the Care Council for Wales (CCW)), provided by an alliance of four universities (Bangor, Cardiff, Glyndwr and Swansea) and actively involves employers, practitioners and service users in their development. Critical reflections on the early implementation of the Experienced, Senior and Consultant Programmes that contribute to the CPEL framework will help understand the key characteristics, challenges and opportunities post qualifying education for social workers can bring. The paper commences with an analysis of the moves to design a national post-qualification framework that is more accessible, flexible and responsive than the previous patchwork quilt set-up, including an examination of the increased role of distance learning and the teaching methodologies that support it. It then critically summarises the specific context and developments of the CPEL framework. This is followed by substantive analyses of the key messages. These messages are of the value of; provider collaboration, quality of e learning experience, employer commitment and student perceived competence/satisfaction.
<type>Journal Article</type><journal>Social Work Education</journal><volume>37</volume><journalNumber>6</journalNumber><paginationStart>761</paginationStart><paginationEnd>774</paginationEnd><publisher>Taylor &amp; Francis</publisher><placeOfPublication>Online</placeOfPublication><issnPrint>0261-5479</issnPrint><issnElectronic>1470-1227</issnElectronic><keywords>Pedagogy of social work education; design and delivery of social work education; post-qualifying education; blended learning.</keywords><publishedDay>11</publishedDay><publishedMonth>6</publishedMonth><publishedYear>2018</publishedYear><publishedDate>2018-06-11</publishedDate><doi>10.1080/02615479.2018.1479383</doi><url>https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/02615479.2018.1479383</url><notes/><college>COLLEGE NANME</college><department>Social Work</department><CollegeCode>COLLEGE CODE</CollegeCode><DepartmentCode>ASSD</DepartmentCode><institution>Swansea University</institution><apcterm/><lastEdited>2018-08-30T12:55:18.1820380</lastEdited><Created>2018-07-27T10:50:38.7024640</Created><path><level id="1">Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences</level><level id="2">School of Health and Social Care - Public Health</level></path><authors><author><firstname>Jo</firstname><surname>Rees</surname><order>1</order></author><author><firstname>Teresa</firstname><surname>de Villiers</surname><order>2</order></author><author><firstname>Wulf</firstname><surname>Livingston</surname><order>3</order></author><author><firstname>Tracey</firstname><surname>Maegusuku-Hewett</surname><orcid>0000-0002-9063-2604</orcid><order>4</order></author><author><firstname>Gwenan</firstname><surname>Prysor</surname><order>5</order></author><author><firstname>Jo</firstname><surname>Redcliffe</surname><order>6</order></author></authors><documents><document><filename>0041143-30072018122801.pdf</filename><originalFilename>CPEL_Article_Post_review_Master_Doc_-_FINAL.CLEANDoc17.05.18.pdf</originalFilename><uploaded>2018-07-30T12:28:01.9730000</uploaded><type>Output</type><contentLength>428539</contentLength><contentType>application/pdf</contentType><version>Accepted Manuscript</version><cronfaStatus>true</cronfaStatus><embargoDate>2019-06-11T00:00:00.0000000</embargoDate><copyrightCorrect>true</copyrightCorrect><language>eng</language></document></documents><OutputDurs/></rfc1807>
