Abstract: This paper presents a novel emulated photovoltaic (PV) source based on unilluminated solar panels and external current source. Detailed characteristics of multiple solar panels based PV emulator was presented. The proposed PV emulating system presents a very high bandwidth comparing to currently available PV emulators. It is an ideal tool for testing PV systems in laboratory environments without the need for actual solar irradiance. The proposed emulated PV source has now been used in laboratory teaching and research in relating PV systems. It is a valuable technology for academic research and industries.
