This chapter gives the advanced nurse practitioner an understanding of the multi-disciplinary nature of public health and cross references role attributes (RCN 2012) with the nine identified areas of public health activity defined by Skills for Health and the Public Health Resource Unit (2008).The current context of public health within the NHS is discussed and public health practitioners identified. Professional practice within public health is contextualised and the role of the advanced practitioner analysed. Finally a review of the theoretical underpinnings of public health are discussed. |
