Abstract: Handouts have been an inseparable part of any teaching approach for years. There are many ‎different types of handouts including: comprehensive, gapped, summarized, etc.; and the ‎question of which type is the most effective in learning and teaching has been discussed in ‎educational communities for years. Each type has its own advantages and drawbacks. It is ‎claimed, for example, that gapped lecture notes will encourage the students to attend lectures ‎while the comprehensive notes are more useful to prepare for the exams. ‎This paper is intended to compare the effectiveness of comprehensive lecture notes with that ‎of gapped lecture notes in a case study applied on Master level Electrical Engineering ‎students at Swansea University, UK. As most of the previous arts in this area lack to hear the ‎students’ voices on the matter, a questionnaire have been designed to see which type is ‎preferred by the students and why. ‎
