Abstract: |
This chapter examines the representation of a then-new medium - the Internet - in Welsh and Welsh-language magazines and newspapers between 1990 and 1996. It is therefore an exploration of the early social imaginary of online media. It examines the challenges inherent in writing histories of the early internet, before outlining the methodology used in the work carried out on the internet in Wales. The key themes within the newspaper articles are then explored in some detail. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the methodological limitations of the approach used, and possible means of overcoming these. |
