Item Description: |
<p>The importance of this paper is the application of coupled flow, solidification and thermal stress to an innovative casting technique, i.e. the Squeeze Forming Process. High integrity cast components are manufactured by GKN for Jaguar and Aston Martin cars. This research, funded by an EPSRC grant has helped them to better design the process and reduce the very expensive failures that characterised the manufacturing process.
