This symposium, organised and chaired by Ruth Davies, presented recent empirical findings from five recent studies, which were also presented, to explore and discuss the evolving role of fathers in caring for their sick child. Links between social constructionist perspectives of fatherhood and gender in relation to the concept of family centred care were highlighted alongside the implications for practice, education and research.Methodological issues associated with involving fathers in research was also discussed. |
