Item Description: The Scanning Vibrating Electrode Technique pioneered by the Swansea team for investigating localised corrosion. Swansea has installed instrumentation internationally at GE labs (New York), TEPCO (Tokyo) and Tata (Ijmuiden). This research performed in collaboration with researchers from Finland details the practical and theoretical sensitivities of the technique. This work is of particular significance in the corrosion on formed components and shows that the semi-quantitative assessment of corrosion remains accurate in all but the most deformed items. This has lead to new collaborations with Tata, Airbus and Jaguar Land Rover through the COATED project (EPSRC EPK503228 £887k). (IF 4.08 citations 5)
