| Item Description: |
An optical microcavity is used to detect atoms and produce photons with less than 1 atom on average per cavity mode, representing the first step towards a cavity network for quantum information processing on atom chips. I contributed significantly to the concept, microfabrication, and to the new instrumentation required. |
