Item Description: |
This article is a continuation of the work presented in a previous paper where we showed that ZnO nanowires could be integrated directly into MEMS devices. We reported that nanowires grew at different rates on the different surfaces of the MEMS chip. In this paper we now show that the main reason behind the variation in growth rates lies with the roughness of the underlying substrate. However we also show that metal ions originating from the substrate can affect growth by binding to the nanowire facets. These are important results for the successful integration of ZnO nanowires with the Silicon microchip platform. |
