Compulsion and coercion in the treatment of anorexia nervosa is controversial. This article presents the results of a qualitative research study where 29 young women aged 15 to 29 years were interviewed about compulsion and coercion in the treatment of anorexia nervosa. These women considered the use of compulsion and coercion acceptable in order to save life. Views about compulsion and perception of coercion were also moderated by relationships and trust. |
