Item Description: This paper, published in Environmental Science and Technology (IF 4.63) stems from EU-funded work with a local SME who have developed novel pyrolysis technology. The work followed a detailed analytical study of the pyrolysis process and derived a full environmental impact assessment of its use with waste plastics from electrical goods. It showed that the best waste treatment option varied by material and this paper provides information on how decisions on treatment options should be taken. The pyrolysis process is now being commercialised with a new plant in SW England (contact: a.clarke@itmewales.co.uk).
